Tory Burch Inspired Spring Party

Let the Spring 2012 runway looks inspire your next party. Today I am showcasing the second of the two themes that were featured in the Spring 2012 issue of The Party Dress Magazine.

Take your favorite Spring collection and let it inspire! This Tory Burch ensemble shows the joy of mixing patterns done perfectly. Hot pink, florals, stripes and polka dots; and lets not forget feminine touches like soft ruffles and simple bows you could add it too!

{The Details}

Say goodbye to matching twinset cardigans. For Spring, it’s all about mixing it up. Don’t be scared now – polka dots with florals in contrasting colors {texture too!} is just what’s in the forecast. Not just in your closet, but on your table too – it’s the “it” thing to do! A splash of color is just what’s in season for a black & white palette that is classy & so very chic. See just how you can get the look when entertaining:

Mother’s Day Manicures & Mimosas

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and I don’t know about you, but my family is always looking for new ways to celebrate Mom.  We’ve done the festive brunch, the preppy bbq, and the traditional family dinner.  I was thrilled when our magazine contributor, Beth Beattie, came up with this oh, so fashionable Manicures & Mimosas party for the spring issue of The Party Dress Magazine.  Having spent my former life in the fashion industry (I was a clothing buyer, for those that may not know), this luncheon appeals to me on so many different levels!  Read on for details from Beth…..

“The runway to table design concept was inspired by Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring/Summer ‘12 Collection. Known for her prints and bold use of color, we focused on interjecting the graphic and floral patterns represented in the collection throughout the overall design of the table. The “Manicures & Mimosas for Moms,” hosted by Beth Beattie of Beth Beattie Branding, PR and Events and Katherine Lande, Fashion Editor and Stylist of KL Style, Inc. was held at Muses & Visionaries. Muses & Visionaries, a modern salon for women to dream, inspire, support and create, is a unique space intended to nurture fresh ideas, foster connections and act as a catalyst for both independent and collaborative work.

The tablescape incorporated bursts of bright colors, including the vivid poppy centerpieces by VM Flowers, orange glasses from Bloomingdale’s and a personal collection of fashion books. The plates and chargers were from Diane von Furstenberg’s Home Collection at Bloomingdale’s, the modern floral twist placemats were from Didriks. The black and white graphic napkins from Target were inspired from fabric patterns shown on the runway.

The placecards were different runway looks from the collection and we put them in acrylic frames with each guest’s name signed in gold. The silverware was dipped in a custom purple from Plasti Dip’s Create Your Color Kit.

Guests enjoyed sweet treats of macarons and mini cupcakes from The Sugar Monkey and POP Champagne splits and mimosas. Guests received nail polishes from Sephora and Diane perfume from Bloomingdale’s to take home with them.”

Party Perfect Palettes – Part I

Last week I shared with you how to entertain in style, keeping in mind the 2012 entertaining trends. And this week, it is all about being chic & loving parties!

One of the very first things you decide on when planning a party is the colors. Recently, the colors we see in fashion have transferred into the home and served as inspiring color palettes. It’s important to remember that fashion – it’s not just clothes, you want to party in style too right? I am going to show you just how to pull color trends from Spring’s best-in-show hues found at home and in your wardrobe and see how fab they can be incorporated into a party!

Grey

Almost every nail collection we have seen for the Winter of 2012 incorporates grey, which I love by the way. In the fashion world, it is the perfect muted color to add a pop too. Well now, it’s about taking a drab color and making it fab. Pair a great grey with a bright yellow, or tonesd down mustard, purple, or turquoise  – a good contrasting pair that creates an ahhh as guest enter the room. Step out of the box and make a simple neutral shine.

Less is More

Sometimes you may just need a little dose of glamour in life — white, soft pink and a side of sparkle. Oh, and Audrey too. A classic palette gives you lots of options to fill your tablescape with pretties. It’s classy, chic and just simply elegant.
Stay tuned for more Party Perfect Trends later this week!!

Trend Alert: Bold Stripes

Bold Stripes

Freshen up your home, wardrobe and parties this summer with BOLD stripes!  Done in different variations, and every color under the rainbow – stripes are all over the market this season.  I personally love the navy and white combo – it lends it self perfectly to the nautical look for summer!

Trend Alert: Grey & Yellow

Trend Alert Grey & Yellow (small)

Yellow – one of my favorites!  By pairing it with different colors, it can take on so many different lives.

Pair it with pink, orange, turquoise – it becomes a bit of a fiesta!  Placed with black & white – it is bold.  Nestled between sky blue and pale green, it is the ideal palette for a baby shower.

This season – I am seeing a ton of yellow and pale grey mixed together.  It’s somewhat of an unlikely pairing, but is really attractive!  I like it especially in the home.  Grey is a great neutral backdrop that gives you the opportunity to change up your pop colors seasonally.  This season….I hope you will choose yellow!
