Birthday full of Butterflies

Butterflies scream SPRING to me!  Every party should contain 5 main components: a stunning invitation, decorative details, a signature cake or cupcakes, a statement centerpiece, and decorative napkins.  Pull those main ideas together and you too can have a cohesive party that is sure to get “ooh’s” and “ahh’s” from your guests!

For our butterfly theme party, let’s break down each idea:

Invitations: When it comes to children’s parties, I love invitations with bright colors and bold patterns.  This butterfly invitation from WH Hostess has both of those things going for it!  It’s colorful, playful and even has matching cupcake toppers, and gift tags!  The colors set the color palette – orange, hot pink, and lime green.

Decorative Details: It’s the little details that really pull a party together.  Accents that leave your guests saying “wow…you really thought of everything!”  Some ideas?!  Place colored ribbons or rubber bands around the pitchers and glasses.  Hang felt butterfly garland from tree branches or around windows. (how darling is this, by the way?!)

The Cake: A signature cake like this makes a statement that this hostess means business!  I love the “banner” (I believe it’s chocolate) draped across the cake….unique and playful, perfect for a child’s birthday!  If you are more of a cupcake-kind-of-girl, check out the coordinating butterfly cupcake toppers.  These would be darling atop cupcakes frosted with our three signature colors: orange, hot pink and lime green.

Centerpieces: Typically your table centerpiece is one of your “wow!” details that you put a lot of time and resources into.  Flowers are common, but when it comes to a child’s party switch things up a bit.  You don’t need to have a traditional centerpiece…try something a bit lighter, a bit more whimsical.  I love the look of this centerpiece.  Simple bud vases, filled with only one bloom each.

Napkins: You know me….I love a festive napkin!  This is an easy way to add a special touch to your table.  Tie each napkin with a grosgrain ribbon, and hot glue a silk butterfly to the top.  It will add a darling touch of whimsy to your table setting.

I just love this inspiration board!  It’s so happy and festive!
